Each year the WUCI brings a variety of opportunities for the Webster and the St. Louis community to experience Chinese festivals and traditions, including an event centered around Lunar New Year.

In 2021, the Confucius Institute partnered with the Multicultural Center and International Student Affairs to bring rapper Jason Chu to Webster audiences. Jason shared his music and a message of inclusivity as he celebrated the New Year with us. Complete with live music, trivia, and prizes, this was an event to remember! For this event, students and employees from throughout the global Webster University community contributed multilingual well wishes for the New Year in English, Chinese (several dialects), Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, and Burmese.
Past events have included partnerships with the Webster Groves Public Library and the Chinese Education and Culture Center in St. Louis, as well as on-campus events for Webster University and local K-12 students.
