Webster University Taps International Leadership for Global Positions and Enhanced Responsibilities
Peter Maher, Nancy Hellerud and Edna Schick-Bodric take on new international responsibilities.
ST. LOUIS (APRIL 8, 2015) - Peter Maher, a professor and associate dean in the George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology, has been named Interim Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, International Campuses and Initiatives. In this expanded role, he will oversee all international campuses and the growing number of international partnerships. Maher joined Webster in 2004 and became associate dean in 2011. A committee will be formed to begin a nation-wide search for this position. This process is expected to take three to six months.
Vice Provost Nancy Hellerud, who started with Webster in 2011, will oversee the Office of Study Abroad, the Center for International Education, Faculty Mobility Program, Confucius Institute, as well as continue with her current duties as Vice Provost.
Edna Schick-Bodric, currently senior academic coordinator at Webster Vienna, who has worked at Webster University’s European locations since 2011, has been named Head of European Operations and Director of Operations in Vienna.
As Head of European Operations, She will work directly with European campus directors to align the policies and procedures of the Geneva, Leiden, and Vienna campuses. This will be the first step in a longer-term process of aligning the policies and procedures of all the international campuses with St. Louis.
As Director of Operations in Vienna, Schick-Bodric will be responsible for Vienna administrative operations; including Facilities, IT, Housing, and the data gathering/reporting function of the Registrar’s Office. She will be based in Vienna.
“I am delighted that is the first step in building a strong international leadership team which will align the goals and objectives of our international location, programs and directors with our strategic plan, Global Impact for the Next Century,” said Julian Schuster, Webster University’s provost, senior vice president and chief operating officer. “This realignment will lead to the efficiencies that will enable global academic and operational alignment and excellence.
Hellerud, Maher and Schick-Bodric are all graduates of the Webster University Global Leadership Academy (GLA), a presidential initiative started in 2012 to shape leaders and promote from within. All three have started transitioning into their new roles, with a goal of being fully integrated with their new duties by June 1.
