What enticed you to choose Webster University for your degree?
I wanted to be able to continue dancing while also getting my degree in Chemistry. Webster allowed me the option to continue my passion for dance while also being in a great STEM program.
What stood out about your studies at Webster?
Having a personal relationship with professors. Being able to go to them outside class and ask questions or seek guidance. Still to this day, I keep in touch with my professors. They wanted to see me succeed while I was in their class and now, they cheer me on and offer support in my professional career.
How did your Webster degree help advance you in your career?
It helped me get into analytical chemistry. It’s hard to get a job as a chemist without a degree.
What is your favorite part about your job?
I love working with instrumentation. I love figuring out how things work.
What is something valuable you have learned during your career?
The people you meet and work with will come around again. It is a small world, and you will cross paths with people you know directly or by extension.
What advice would you give to others who are considering Webster University for their degree?
Webster’s small size is an advantage since you really get special attention from your teachers. They want to help you succeed.
What is your favorite spot on your Webster campus?
I loved the rose gardens next to the science building and the study rooms in there.
What has your life journey looked like?
I grew up in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, and currently live in St. Louis, Missouri.
What was your first job, and what do you remember most about it?
I was an analytical chemist. I remember applying all the knowledge I learned to real-world applications.
How do you spend your free time?
I teach tap dance classes. I also do aerial dancing. I love to travel and mountain bike. My goal is to visit all 50 states and bike/mountain bike in each. So far, I’ve done about seven or so states.
