Students must fulfill graduation requirements at both institutions.

Webster University provides full transfer of coursework successfully completed as part of an associate's degree awarded by a regionally accredited institution. While students with this associate's degree will typically transfer 60-64 credit hours, Webster will transfer in all college-level coursework that is part of the completed associate's degree. Transfer of additional lower-division credit beyond the associate's degree is restricted. All transfer credit is capped at 90 credit hours.

Students with an AFA from a regionally accredited community college will receive full transfer credit of their AFA toward the completion of a BFA. Students with the AFA will have also satisfied some of the requirements for the Global Citizenship Program, as accommodated for the BFA.

Both institutions will honor all existing reverse transfer agreements.

All transfer coursework must be college-level (1000/100-level or above) with a passing grade. A grade of D or higher is considered passing, but a D will have severe transfer restrictions. Pass/Fail courses will count for transfer credit if the student received a Pass. For repeated courses, only the second grade will be counted. Incomplete grades are not accepted in transfer. Formal evaluation of transfer credit is conducted by the Office of the Registrar upon admission to Webster University.

Students should contact an advisor for further information regarding placement based on scheduling, and degree and graduation requirements.

Note: Admission to the Art, Design and Art History Department is by portfolio review. For majors within this department, course equivalencies in ART, DESN, ARHS may be subject to portfolio review by the Webster University department faculty.

Anthropology and Sociology Degree

This guide has been published to assist students in preparing for transfer to Webster University from St. Louis Community College in the areas of Anthropology and Sociology. This should not be used in place of individual academic advising. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a Webster University transfer admissions counselor early in their academic career to ensure a smooth transfer experience.

The Anthropology and Sociology degree provides students with a deeper appreciation of the social and cultural dimensions of human behavior and beliefs. Students in this major gain critical thinking skills that help to examine and explain social change, inequality, and cultural diversity within a rapidly changing world. Learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom with an array of research and internship opportunities that instill in students pivotal career skills in cultural competence, problem solving, and teamwork. This major prepares students for careers in the 21st century ranging from technology, global public health, social work, international business, and public service.

In addition to the required courses in the major, many students are required to have three to six credit hours^ in a non- native language (expertise demonstrated by coursework or testing). Courses used towards the international language requirement may also be used to fulfill general education/GCP requirements or a major/minor in a foreign language. Students whose native language is not English and who are studying in English will be considered to have achieved their foreign language requirement if they successfully pass an ESL test of their English proficiency (e.g., TOEFL).

  • Anthropology and Sociology majors are required to have a minimum of 3 credit hours of a non-native language.

When considering an application, Webster looks for evidence of potential for academic success. A cumulative GPA on all college level coursework of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is preferred; however, each applicant is given individual consideration. If you have circumstances which might affect your admission this may be discussed confidentially with a member of the admissions staff. The University operates on rolling admission, and application files are reviewed by an admissions counselor as soon as all requested credentials have been received.

Each transfer applicant must submit:

  • A completed Application for Admission
  • An official transcript from St. Louis Community College, and an official transcript from all other postsecondary institutions previously attended mailed to:
    Webster University Office of Admissions
470 East Lockwood Avenue St. Louis, MO 63119

  • Webster has a minimum residency requirement that 30 of the student’s last 36 credits must be taken at Webster University. All students must have a minimum of 120 credit hours to graduate.
  • Transfer students can apply up to 15 credit hours of approved coursework in the respective major from another institution. Students may transfer in 3-6 credit hours of approved foreign language coursework to meet the international language requirement.
  • Within each major, a specified number of credits must be upper level.
    • Anthropology and Sociology majors must take a minimum of 12 hours at the 3000/4000-level
  • Students must earn a grade of C- or better in any course they wish to apply toward the major or general education/GCP.
  • Webster University provides full transfer of coursework successfully completed as part of an associate degree awarded by a regionally accredited institution. While students with associate degrees typically transfer 60-64 credit hours, Webster will transfer in all coursework that is part of the completed associate degree. Transfer of additional lower-division credit beyond the associate degree is restricted. All transfer credit is capped at 90 credit hours.

All transfer coursework must be college-level (100-level or above) with a passing grade. Pass/Fail courses will count for transfer credit if the student received a Pass. For repeated courses only the second grade will be counted. Incomplete grades are not accepted in transfer. Courses completed with a grade of D have severe transfer restrictions. Formal evaluation of transfer credit is conducted by the Office of the Registrar upon admission to the University.

Consult a current Webster University catalog for the specific requirements of your major before selecting courses. Not all courses apply to all majors.

Business Degrees

This guide has been published to assist students in preparing for transfer to Webster University from St. Louis Community College in the areas of Accounting, Business Administration, Economics and Finance. This should not be used in place of individual academic advising. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a Webster University transfer admissions counselor early in their academic career to ensure a smooth transfer experience.

  • A minimum of 18 credit hours of academic work must be taken in the Department of Business or Department of Management at Webster University.
  • No more than one course completed with a grade of D may count toward fulfilling the specific requirements of the major. All General Education/GCP courses must be completed with a C- or higher.
  • All transfer coursework must be college-level (100-level or above) with a passing grade.

Business Administration and Finance majors are required to complete the business core curriculum requirements as listed below.

Communications and Journalism Degrees

Students must fulfill graduation requirements at both institutions.

Webster University provides full transfer of coursework successfully completed as part of an associate's degree awarded by a regionally accredited institution. While students with this associate's degree will typically transfer 60-64 credit hours, Webster will transfer in all college-level coursework that is part of the completed associate's degree. Transfer of additional lower-division credit beyond the associate's degree is restricted. All transfer credit is capped at 90 credit hours.

Students with an AA from a regionally accredited community college will receive full transfer credit of their AA toward the completion of a BA. Students with the AA will have also satisfied all of the requirements for the Global Citizenship Program except for the Keystone course.

Students with an AA from a regionally accredited community college will receive full transfer credit of their AA toward the completion of the BA and MA degrees. Students with the AA will have also satisfied all of the requirements for the Global Citizenship Program except for the Keystone course.

Students will receive the BA degree after completing all of the requirements for the BA degree and before completing the requirements for the MA degree.

St. Louis Community College’s Associate of Arts in General Transfer Studies (AA) and Webster’s combined Bachelor of Arts in Media Production (BA) and Master of Arts in Strategic Communications (MA) builds an educational pathway for St. Louis Community College (STLCC) students with an associate’s degree to seamlessly transfer to Webster University to complete their bachelor’s and master's degrees.
