Eric Chen Wins St. Louis Philharmonic Young Artist Competition
Pavel Ilyashov with Eric Chen
Violinist Eric Chen has been named the winner of the St. Louis Philharmonic Young Artist Competition.
A student of Pavel Ilyashov at the Community Music School and former member of the CMS Preparatory Program, Chen will perform Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 with the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra in November. The piece has long been a dream of Chen's, and now in his senior year, he will finally have the opportunity to bring this challenging work to life with full orchestral accompaniment.
The Young Artist Competition provides talented young musicians the opportunity to showcase their artistry and perform as soloists with the professional orchestra. Chen's win marks a significant milestone in his musical development and highlights the exceptional training provided by the Community Music School.
