Hermosa Quartet Advances to Fischoff Quarterfinals
March 24, 2026

We are thrilled to congratulate the Hermosa Quartet from the CMS Preparatory Program on advancing to the live quarterfinal round of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition!
Founded in 1973, Fischoff is the largest chamber music competition in the world, drawing young musicians from across the globe — and advancing to the live quarterfinal round places the Hermosa Quartet among an extraordinarily select group of performers competing at the very highest level of their craft. This year's 53rd annual competition takes place May 8-10, 2026, at the University of Notre Dame.
The Hermosa Quartet — Charis Shing, violin I; Adam Yu, violin II; Joy Shin, viola; and Andrew Su, cello — demonstrates the exceptional level of artistry and dedication that defines the CMS Preparatory Program. The program offers advanced students in grades 9–12 the highest caliber of chamber music training, including weekly coaching from professional musicians and performance opportunities that extend to the national stage.
This accomplishment would not be possible without the unwavering support of our outstanding coaches, generous donors and supporters. We extend special thanks to Vera Parkin and Rebecca Pantano for their dedication to these young musicians.
We will all be cheering for the Hermosa Quartet in May!
