The four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre program at Webster University will give you the intensive training in acting, music and dance to ensure that you're ready for wherever your career path takes you.

Students will benefit from rigorous courses alongside other talented musical theatre majors, and benefit from Webster’s exclusive partnership with the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, which will provide many professional theatre opportunities.

Gain Real-World Experience as a Performer

Whether you’re interested in musical theatre, dance or acting, you can dive into the topics that you’re most passionate about as a Musical Theatre major at Webster.

As you complete your BFA degree in Musical Theatre, you’ll have chances every semester to share your work publicly and get comfortable performing in front of others. You’ll learn from faculty mentors who have decades of experience as performers on Broadway and as voice actors. They bring this experience into their classrooms to help you prepare for your own Broadway debut.

Choose Webster for Your BFA in Musical Theatre

Work with Experts in the Industry

We maintain strong relationships with local theatres and performing groups to help you build professional and personal connections as you progress in the Musical Theatre program. For example, we share our space with a LORT B theatre company, and Musical Theatre majors can take classes with the company.

Work Closely with Professors and Peers

We intentionally keep our class sizes small (typically around 15 students) to provide meaningful opportunities for Musical Theatre majors to work closely with our expert faculty, who are union-affiliated professionals in the College of Fine Arts.

Benefit from Our International Partnership

Webster has an ongoing partnership with the internationally acclaimed Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, where you can study alongside renowned theatre production designers and experience backstage jobs in a lively international theatre scene.

Receive Financial Assistance

Webster offers a variety of scholarships exclusively for Musical Theatre students. We are committed to helping you start your career with as little financial burden as possible.

Comprehensive Musical Theatre Courses

As a Musical Theatre major, you’ll take a unique combination of courses covering a broad range of practical topics — including acting, voice and speech, yoga, Shakespearean drama, musicianship, various Broadway genres and advanced Musical Theatre dance courses.

Study Musical Theatre, Dance and Acting in Dedicated Studios

There’s no better preparation to become a Broadway star than learning and performing on stage for your peers and others. The Sargent Conservatory offers performance spaces for every type of performance — performers may appear on the Browning Main Stage, the Emerson Studio Theatre and Stage Three. Webster also houses design rooms that include a light lab, sound lab and two drafting studios.
