Webster University at Fort Bliss is proud to be a partner of the prestigious United
States Army Sergeants Major Academy (SGM-A). The academy was founded in 1972, as a
special preparation source for the Army’s senior enlisted leaders. Its purpose is
to prepare master sergeants and sergeant majors to elevate from a tactical thinking
level to an operational and strategic perspective. This elevation prepares them for
leadership positions in joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational organizations.
All branches of service are represented in addition to international noncommissioned
officers that attend this 10-month, in-resident school.
As part of the Command and General Staff College (CGSC), the academy received Higher
Learning Commission (HLC) authority in 2019, and the Department of the Army approval
to offer a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Workforce Development to eligible graduates.
It is also accredited by the American Council of Education (ACE).
Webster University offers on-site and online classroom courses to support two master’s
degree programs:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
- Business and Organizational Security Management (MA)
Students, staff, faculty, and administration of the SGM-A are all eligible to earn
either of the above master’s programs through Webster University with a special tuition
cost.
