DAU Equivalency Program

Mission-Ready Training for GS-1102 Professionals

Webster University’s Graduate Certificate in Government Contracting (GCON) is designed to strengthen the readiness of the Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal acquisition workforce. In partnership with the Defense Acquisition University (DAU), this 12-credit, four-course program delivers training aligned with the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) and the Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (FAC-C Professional) model.

For contracting specialists, officers and veterans preparing for GS-1102 positions, the GCON certificate provides the recognized academic foundation needed to accelerate career progression and meet mission requirements.

What This Means for You

  • DAU/DAWIA Equivalency: Webster’s GCON courses are accepted by DAU and the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition and Sustainment) as equivalent for required contracting training — without further assessment.
  • FAC-C Professional Aligned: Completes the academic portion of the single-level certification (replacing the old Level I/II/III model).
  • Career Signal for GS-1102s: Enhances your acquisition record, demonstrating technical proficiency, leadership readiness and mission focus.
  • Military-Friendly: Ideal for service members transitioning to civilian acquisition roles, veterans seeking GS-1102 billets, and DoD civilians advancing within the acquisition career field.

Path to FAC-C Professional Certification

To become FAC-C Professional certified (for federal acquisition workforce members):

  1. Complete the Webster GCON Certificate (12 credit hours)
  2. Gain 12 months of acquisition experience in a GS-1102 or equivalent billet
  3. Pass the Contracting Professional Certification Exam (administered to current federal acquisition workforce members only)

Note: Certification approval and record entry are handled by your Acquisition Career Management Office (ACMO).
