Build a Strong Foundation

You can help your child start their musical journey, giving them an appreciation of music that will last a lifetime! Kindermusik classes start children as young as infants with their parent/caregiver. Piano Carnival is for pre-school children ready for some keyboard work, and our group piano class for elementary students is a good jump-off point before individual lessons.

Foundations classes provide a supportive and friendly environment in which caregivers can connect as their babies learn! Sound exploration, nursery rhymes and songs, fun routines, board book reading, listening exercises and dances are taught to families to help newborns communicate, learn self-regulation, enhance eye-tracking skills, and coordinate new muscles.

Through singing, dancing, and instrument-playing, each Level 2 class provides a variety of enjoyable outlets for toddler energy while boosting cognitive and motor development. Learn how to utilize music, rhymes, spoken words and even puppetry to create and streamline home routines. We'll explore how music and dance, as well as the whole-child approach, can help children develop physically, cognitively and emotionally.

Piano Carnival Sequential Group Piano Classes

Piano Carnival is our comprehensive beginning group piano program for children ages 4-5, designed as a sequential journey through five progressive levels over approximately 2.5 years.

How It Works

  • All beginning students ages 4-5 start in the Tortoise Class (Level 1)
  • Students advance through subsequent levels (Levels 2-5) as they master each stage
  • Your child's teacher will invite them to progress when ready, each semester
  • Upon completing all levels, students transition to individual piano lessons

Prior Experience? If your child has prior piano experience and is ages 4-5, please email elizabeths@webster.edu to discuss appropriate level placement.

Parent Partnership

Parents attend all lessons and guide home practice, serving as essential learning partners throughout this multi-year journey. This creates meaningful bonding time while supporting your child's musical development.

Requirements

  • 15 minutes of structured practice, 3-5 days per week
  • Access to a piano or touch-sensitive electronic keyboard with full-sized keys
  • Commitment to regular attendance across multiple semesters

Program Commitment

Piano Carnival is designed for families dedicated to a multi-year musical education pathway, building the essential foundation needed for continued piano study.
